Arts Intent

At Langstone Junior Academy we want the children to develop an appreciation of art and an understanding of its influence on our lives and culture. Children will learn to push their artistic boundaries by seeking inspiration from artists and designers throughout history and will become resourceful, innovative and creative members of the school community

With this in mind, we have developed three main aims that demonstrate the focus of our school.

We aim to provide enriching, hands-on experiences for the children which will inspire and motivate. They are exposed to a variety of talented artists

Because

all art is fueled by inspiration and children need to know that it is as varied as it is unique.

Children are encouraged to see the relevance of art and design technology within human culture

Because

it has affected human beings and has changed with us and it is important to see the part that they have played within the wider world context.

We aim to critique, evaluate and analyse creative works using the language of art and design technology

Because

we have found that our children learn best through reflection and thinking when discussing with their peers.
